San Clemente Preschool

Sadie had a wonderful year and San Clemente Presbyterian Preschool. She was an Apple with Mrs. Thompson and an afternoon Owl in Mrs. Apin's science class. Sadie especially bonded with Mrs. Thompson. They truly "got" each other in a way that a parent can only hope for. Mrs. Thompson provided an amazing classroom environment that sparked Sadie's love for learning. She had a really big year as she transitioned to a longer school day and welcomed a new member of the family. Her sensitivity, love, caring spirit, wild nature humor and joy were some of the amazing "Sadie traits" that were carefully nurtured at SCPS (or, "Presbyterian," as Sadie called it.) We are so grateful for what she was able to experience this year. 

Teary Wisconsin Loss

The March Madness college basketball tournament was kicked up to a new level this year, with the birth of Barnabas David on day 2 of the tourney. I think Ron was secretly glad that I finally caved and got an epidural during the birth process. Once it was administered, I promptly went to sleep and he got to watch some games! Barnes was "coached" and "cheered" into this world in more ways than one. Rosie, too, took a particular interest in the tournament this year. She picked Ohio State to make it to the Sweet 16 mostly because her American Girl, Kit Kitteredge is from Cincinnati.We celebrated Wisconsin making it all the way to the final four. All of us put our faith in coach, Bo Ryan and rooted hard for the team lead by Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker. Both girls cheered, but Rosie especially loved watching Frank the Tank.  

Wisconsin ended up losing to Duke in a close final game. Rosie was heartbroken. She sobbed. She watched the final net cutting ceremony and decided that it wasn't fair that Wisconsin not get a piece of the net and a trophy. They had made it to the final game, after all. She sat down and wrote the team a letter, drew a picture of a trophy and enclosed a piece of the net from our own backyard. Ron, particularly biased by anything that has to do with sports, was a misty eyed dad.
And, guess what? Bo Ryan responded. I think we may have a future Badger on our hands.

Slow Down, Baby Barnes

Slow down, time! We want to enjoy sweet Baby Barnes every moment of every day! He doesn't sleep well, but he sure is content in our arms. He loves his sisters and is game to roll with any adventure that we might have. This family feels complete with our little man. 

Mr. Wolfie

2nd grade has been Rosie's best year yet. She loves her teacher, loves to learn and adores her friends and community. Rosie auditioned for the main role Mr. Wolfie in the 2nd grade Character Matters play. Mr. Wolfie was the main villain who needed to be taught a lesson about being kind and thoughtful to others. Rosie stole the show. She was both dramatic and hilarious. What a natural! 

Forest Home

Ron was the speaker at family camp this weekend and the kids and I tagged along. We enjoyed the fresh air, the hot chocolate shop and the cozy cabin most of all.
