School may be back in session but that doesn't mean that life stops! We're still beaching, baking and playing everyday! We live in the land of perpetual summer!

First Day of School
And they're off! Showing 1st and 4th grades who is boss! Sadie is ready to dominate Mrs. Martin's class and Rosie's the queen of Mr. Carter's room. Yes, that's right, Rosie has a male teacher. Rosie gets to take music this year and Sadie gets to have art with Mrs. Bassett. We have such a great school... good friends and awesome, caring teachers. We are certainly blessed!
Learn lots and have fun at school each day, and, rest assured, Barnes and I will be waiting excited each afternoon for you to come home and PLAY!
Bass Lake
The summer days are numbered and the start of school is right around the corner!
Ron was overseeing session 4 at YSSC- so we piled into the truck and headed up to Bass Lake to celebrate Rosie's birthday and to get our Miller's burger and milkshake fix among other things. Rosie got to have a birthday super sundae complete with a whole camp singing of Happy Birthday and the banging of pots and pans in true YSSC fashion. She also got to work in the kitchen one morning and couldn't have been happier.
Just being at camp and in the trees calms our spirits. Days are spent tromping around the grounds, doing crafts, swimming and playing.
We sure love it up here!
Dear Rosie,
And, just like that, you're 9.
I'm not sure if you've spent 9 years on this earth or 89. You're an old soul in the best sense of the term. You're incredibly thoughtful, observant, gentle, responsible, witty, brilliant and creative. I can trust you with anything. You're a wiz in the kitchen and whip up cakes, cookies and other creations like it's nobody's business. You're an acrobat and truly make ALL of our hearts leap and flip for joy. We sure love you, Rosie. Happy Birthday to you!

Wisconsin and Nana's 90th
Right after ECDC ended, we boarded a plane bound for the Midwest. After landing in Minneapolis we had a quick lunch with Steve, Lori and family and then headed north to the cabin in Wisconsin. The ENTIRE family was headed north to the cabin in Wisconsin, in fact. Nana Bordeaux was turning 90! We had a great time celebrating her... with a family fun run, blow up mattresses everywhere, tons of playing, a coveted pop up tent in the backyard, lots of time around the table and a dinner out (23 of us in matching shirts!)
Nana was celebrated and honored by all of us. She's making 90 look GOOD! She's as spry as ever. She jogged across the finish line of our little fun run!
After most of the family left and things settled a bit, we also did all of the other favorite Wisconsin activities... lake play, waterskiing
(Sadie bravely tubed, Rosie ROCKED the skiis, Dad dominated the ski and wakeboard... Mom proudly popped up first try on her ski and then survived :), Braewood, Eagle River for fudge and moccasins, bike rides, morning jogs, talent shows, date night to White Stag and Lumpy's, DQ... this list goes on and on.
Rosie brought home the gold in the family fun run.
