Happy Birthday, Baby Girl

Happy Birthday, sweet Rosie. Our lives are more rich and meaningful since you came along. Loving and raising you is pure joy. We love watching you grow and learn- it's the greatest and most sacred gift we've been given. On the day you were born, we sat quietly and watched you.We were exhausted, but so full of joy and awe. We felt euphoric. We inspected your fingers and toes, and celebrated every squeak and coo that you made. You were a mystery to us. We didn't know what any of it meant. We did know that we were filled with a divine love for this new little person, and that our lives would never be the same.

When you turned one, we celebrated new things about you. We celebrated your giggles and interests in toys, your crawling, and anticipated your first steps. You were so close! We finally knew what your cries meant and we still delighted in the sounds that you made, especially the ones that were beginning to sound like words! You were still a mystery to us and everything was brand new.

Now you are 2! You tell us what you want and you DO what you want. We're beginning to see so much independence in you and it's all coupled with the loving, caring, helping, spunky Rosie we've known all along. Guess what! You're STILL a mystery to us. You will ALWAYS be a mystery to us because you were created by a perfect God. He knit you together in His image, with mommy's toes and daddy's eyes. You belong to Him, Rosie. We get to love you, but you're His. He's a much better parent than we are, although I promise you that we will ALWAYS do our best. We love you so very much, and jump and cheer for your 2nd year.
